Legal and Health Care Update for the Elderly Forum Highlights

The North Mississippi Rural Legal Services Elder Law Project, along with Three Rivers Area Agency on Aging sponsored a community legal education event entitled “Legal and Health Care Update For The Elderly”  targeting members of the general public age 60 and over, on Thursday, November 10, 2005 from : 9:30 a.m. ‑ 11:00  a.m.  The event was held at the Bruce Senior Citizens Center  located in Bruce, MS.   Twelve (12) people attended the event.  Presentations were by Attorney Catherine V. "Ginny" Kilgore, NMRLS Elder Law Project Director(pictured below); law student Terra Bowling (also below) of the U. M. Law School Civil Legal Clinic; and "An Update On The Vulnerable Adults Act" by law student Demeka Barefield, of the  U.M. Law School Civil Legal Clinic.  The presentations were followed by a question and answer session and individual consultations.  Refreshments were served and door prizes were given.   Demeka Barefield of the University of Mississippi Law School Civil Legal Clinic assisted in arranging the event. 

Attorney Catherine V. "Ginny" Kilgore, NMRLS Elder Law Project Director provided information on "Medicaid and Medicare News‑A Description of the New Prescription Drug Coverage, Consumer Fraud, and Other Health Care Developments." Law student Terra Bowling of the U. M. Law School Civil Legal Clinic made a presentation  on "Planning for the Future: Powers Of Attorney, Health Care Advance Directives, and Wills."
