Tunica Consumer Protection Workshop

North Delta Area Agency on Aging and North Mississippi Rural Legal Services’ MSMAPP and Taxpayer Assistance Projects are sponsored a Consumer Protection Workshop at the G.W. Henderson, Sr. Recreation Center, located at 1165 Abbay Drive, Tunica, Mississippi on Thursday, June 3, 2004. The free public event featured excellent speakers on consumer protection topics from the Office of the Mississippi Secretary of State, the Tunica County Sheriff’s office and North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. In addition to very useful information on consumer protection, door prizes were given and refreshments were served. (Click on the thumbnails Below:)

The Consumer Protection Workshop was well attended by local senior citizens.

Inspector Michael Lee of the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office spoke on Local Consumer Protection Issues.

Tanya Webber, from the MS Secretary of State’s office, offered information on Prevention of Fraud/Scams.

NMRLS Executive Director Ben Thomas Cole II spoke on NMRLS’s Taxpayer Assistance Project.

Catherine V. Kilgore, NMRLS MSMAPP Coordinator, gave the Medicare and Medicaid Update.

The audience of mostly senior citizens received good information on various ways to protect themselves.

NMRLS Admin. Secretary Betty Withers and NMRLS Board member Mildred Quarles served as registrars for the Workshop

The G.W. Henderson, Jr. Recreation Center was a wonderful location for the Workshop.
