The 2008 Elder Law Conference began with registration and a breakfast snack and the distribution of conference T-Shirts early on Friday morning, August 8, 2008.
Ben Thomas Cole, II, Executive Director of NMRLS opened the program with THE WELCOME.
Amanda Glover Evans, Esq., Director of the NMRLS Mississippi Taxpayer Assistance Project, A Low Income Taxpayer Assistance Project (LITC) spoke on CONSUMER PROTECTION ISSUES AFFECTING THE ELDERLY
Dr. Marion Dunn Tutor, Director, MDHS/Division of Aging/Adult Services served as Facilitator.
Barry K. Jones, J.D., LL.M, CPA, AEP, of Wise Carter Child & Caraway presentation was on ETHICAL ISSUES IN ELDER LAW
Richard A. Courtney, Esq., CELA, Frascogna Courtney, PLLC talked about CARE MANAGEMENT, SPECIAL NEEDS PLANNING, & MEDICAID UPDATE
The conference broke for lunch at noon and prepared for the Luncheon Speaker.
Alexander J. Simpson, Managing Attorney of NMRLS' Tupelo branch office introduced the Luncheon Speaker
Judge Jacqueline Estes Mask, First Chancery District of Mississippi served as the Luncheon Speaker with the Topic: "Help, I Need Somebody"
Catherine V. Kilgore, NMRLS Elder Law Project Director and  program coordinator opened the afternoon session introducing the next speaker.
Juliette Wilson, Esq., Special Assistant Attorney General, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office THE MISSISSIPPI MEDICAID FRAUD CONTROL UNIT: PROTECTING VULNERABLE ADULTS

Joel Jones, (above) and  Stephanie Ganucheau, Esq., (below) Esq., Special Assistant Attorneys General talked about  INSURANCE CONSIDERATIONS FOR SENIORS
 
Chereka Witherspoon, Esq., Staff Attorney, NMRLS Tupelo Office made a presentation on Helping Seniors and the Disabled with Housing Issues
 
Minnie P. Howard, Esq., Managing Attorney, NMRLS Oxford Office talked about Grandparents’ Rights in a Changing World

 
Catherine V. "Ginny" Kilgore, Esq., closed out the 2008 Elder Law Conference with a  Public Benefits Checklist for 2008
